PEMDx is developing the ApnoLight, a low-cost, disposable, continuous respiratory monitoring solution. Patient deterioration and harm can go unnoticed by the current standard of care which relies on intermittent observations of breathing. A change in respiratory rate is the earliest indicator of patient respiratory decline and hypoxia. If left unnoticed, injury can occur requiring ICU admission, risking the patients long term health and costing $32k – $43k USD per stay.
